Our story

Japara has joined Calvary in November 2021.

Together, as Calvary, we are one of Australia’s leading health, community and aged care providers, and we share the same Mission, Vision and Values.

This next chapter in the Japara story marks the culmination of 16 years of continuous growth in the Australian aged care sector that started in 2005, when the first Japara home, Central Park, was opened in Windsor, Victoria.

Our history

Our history

Operating under the name Aged Care Services Australia Group (ACSAG), the vision of former CEO, Andrew Sudholz, became true when he wanted to ensure that his mother could live independently as long as possible. When Vera was diagnosed with dementia, Andrew became even more determined to raise the standard of aged care by developing a blueprint for a higher quality, individualised, and integrated approach to caring for our elderly.

By the time Andrew Sudholz retired, and the then CFO Chris Price took over the leadership in 2020, Japara had grown into one of Australia’s largest and most respected aged care providers in Australia.

In the short space of two years, three bespoke flagship homes, The Regent, Trugo Place, and Corymbia (please link to homes) were opened, welcoming residents to a new standard of aged care.
