Important COVID-19 Information

The spread of COVID-19 in Australia is a serious concern for more vulnerable citizens, particularly the elderly. Epidemiologists, scientists and researchers are still discovering new facts about how COVID-19 is transmitted and the rate of contagion.

Japara homes are prepared and are well-placed to respond to any outbreaks.

Early outbreak preparation and plannings in every Japara home was guided by the Commonwealth Department of Health Guidelines.

The guidelines for the best practice containment recommendations are developing and changing daily and the new guidelines are implemented into our plans and procedures.

Depending on the impact of the virus at individual homes, Japara will work proactively with various agencies including the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, local Public Health Units, the State Departments of Health, the Commonwealth Department of Health and, in Victoria, the new Victorian Aged Care Response Centre (VACRC).

Additional service units may be called in to assist our operations depending on the extent of the outbreak and the impact on our workforce. These groups may include the Australian Defence Force, the AUSMAT team, local public hospitals and relevant Ambulance providers.
