A new home for Japara Brighton-Le-Sands

A core part of the community for many years, Japara Brighton-Le-Sands residential aged care home will begin a new chapter in a brand new building.

Residents will move into the modern and boutique-sized home, which is located at 2 Reading Road, next-door to the existing building.

With a range of different room options to suit both individuals and couples, and exciting features such as a therapy pool, gym, onsite café and bar, the home will offer residents the best in care, wellness and lifestyle.

However, the home’s biggest asset is its team of specialised staff members.

Japara Brighton-Le-Sands has many long-serving staff members who will provide exceptional care and, importantly, help create a home.

Amongst them is Jimena Uzabeaga, who has worked at the home for 15 years in various roles including Home Manager.

For Jimena, being able to support residents and families is the most rewarding part of her work.

“The transition to residential care is often a big step for families to make, so an important part of my job is helping residents and families navigate this,” she said. “I also have a Dad who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, so I can connect personally with families in that area.”

The excellent care sits alongside an engaging and varied lifestyle program, with staff supporting residents to pursue their individual interests and hobbies.

A holistic approach to wellness means that lifestyle at Brighton-Le-Sands encompasses a whole range of activities, from day trips spent enjoying the local coastline, to the daily morning exercises, or simply sitting with a staff member or fellow resident to enjoy a quiet coffee and chat in the garden.

“All staff members, no matter what their role in the home is, are encouraged to take the time to stop and chat with residents and check in with how they’re feeling each day,” Jimena said.
