Culture Day at Albury and District
Recently, residents from our Albury and District aged care home participated in a Culture Day, with the theme being ‘Let’s Visit the Red Centre’.
Residents watched DVDs on the Northern Territory and then were visited by a guest speaker, Michael from Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health, who spent time discussing Aboriginal heritage and showing the residents spears, shields and didgeridoos and explaining their significance to the culture. The residents also got to sample crocodile and kangaroo meat, damper and port!
Lots of questions were asked as our residents were very interested in hearing from someone who was able to share his knowledge of the past. They are already looking forward to Michael’s next visit where they hope to see various paintings and other items of significance.
