Enriching lives with music

The residents at our Riverside Views aged care home (Riverside, TAS) regularly participate in music therapy.

Our staff aim to create a setting that relates to things that the residents have previously enjoyed during their lives, as well as providing new experiences through meaningful activities including concerts, singalongs and cultural music teachings.

Our Riverside Views team is also developing a specialised music program for residents who are living with dementia, as music helps to evoke emotions and trigger different memories.

Some of the instruments that are incorporated in music therapy on a regular basis include pianos, accordions, guitars, drums, harps and drums, and the variety of music helps to enrich the lives of our residents.
