Excellent Anzac Day service at Elouera
Anzac Day is a special day for many of our residents, and at Elouera this is no different. The service was conducted by Ian Gilbank from the Torquay RSL, with a good mix of residents and family members attending the service. Lifestyle staff made up special commemorative Anzac packs for the residents to keep, which included letters written home, Morse Codes, admittance certificates, and leave and pay copies. These packs were met with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
During the service, residents read The Ode For The Fallen and other poems, and laid a handmade wreath. Lifestyle staff also gave each resident a sprig of rosemary to wear on the day. The service finished with a group sing-along of songs from the war years.
Later in the afternoon during happy hour, staff dressed up as naval officers and danced to Kiss Me Goodnight Sergeant Major.
The wreath that residents had made, was then presented to the RSL by the Lifestyle staff on behalf of all at Elouera, at the dawn service at Port Danger in Torquay.
