Harmony Day
Our community at Barongarook Gardens celebrated Harmony Day last week.
Harmony Day is an occasion to celebrate cultural diversity, and our staff and residents got in the spirit of the day by either wearing clothing that represented their culture, or a touch of orange which is the official colour of the day.
The residents decorated paper cut-outs with cultural colours and interests, and were able to learn a lot about each other’s heritage – from origin stories to cultural practices to different cuisines!
Our diverse team of staff also shared their own stories about their heritage, and residents were able to hear about what it was like growing in Russia, Nepal, India, and the Philippines.
A good time was had by all on a terrific day that champions inclusion, conversation, and respect.
