Holistic Wellness at Japara

To actively improve the overall wellbeing of our residents, Japara developed the Japara Signature Wellness Package. Carefully designed around proven benefits that enhance daily life, the package includes a number of additional services such as a personal tablet and technology support, massage, aromatherapy, brain training and a personalised workout routine. Whether it’s supporting residents with getting online to connect with loved ones and the world, or helping them to keep mentally and physically active, the Wellness Package is another way to bring even more joy and satisfaction to our residents.

Recently, residents at Japara St Jude’s attended a Wellness Afternoon Tea. Japara’s Dementia Strategist Ben Gatehouse answered questions about the latest research in dementia prevention and support, including the benefits of reducing stress, keeping physically active, and learning new skills or brain training exercises.

St Jude’s resident Kath is currently enjoying the Wellness Package and particularly loves the daily massages.

“I get a knee massage when I need it,” she said.

“It’s so relaxing I wish it would go on forever.”

Kath has also been using the tablet, with the lifestyle staff’s support, to look up instructional videos to help her learn to crochet.

Shelley from Aromacare spoke about the essential oil blends and hand lotions included in the Japara Wellness Package. As part of the package, residents receive a diffuser for their room and oil blends designed for tranquillity and energy.
