Penny’s Japara journey

Having originally applied to work at Japara over 10 years ago, she finally joined as Home Manager for Bonbeach in July 2016, and loved it. During her time with Japara Bonbeach, the home underwent a significant refurbishment, and Penny relished the challenge of leading and supporting the team during this exciting but up time: “I love being a part of change, and positive initiatives,” she commented.

Now, Penny is continuing her role as a Japara Home Manager but has relocated to Capel Sands, also in Victoria.

Penny has a admirable passion for dementia support and guiding those under her leadership to provide the best quality aged care to residents. Her belief that having happy staff helps make positive change easier is a key driving factor behind her vision to create an attractive environment for new staff, and current and new residents: “Being a nurse manager, I like to help provide a new quality of life. You see things to the end; I think that’s really important.”

Outside her role as Home Manager, Penny enjoys spending quality time with her family, bike riding, going to the beach, and gardening. She recently celebrated her 50th birthday, and is planning on going skydiving at some point this year – something she has always wanted to do.
