Remembering our friends
Our Albury & District home hosts an annual memorial service to celebrate the lives of residents who have passed away.
Residents and staff are invited to attend the service, as are family members, who upon arrival are presented with a program, pen, heart ornament and flower with a lovely, thoughtful verse attached.
The service involves a local minister helping our lifestyle staff conduct proceedings, and those in attendance are able to read the service on a specially designed PowerPoint presentation. Hymns and prayers are sung, and as each resident’s name is read out, a bell rings to celebrate their memory.
As the service begins to conclude, a photo tribute to past residents plays on the big screen to the tune of “You Are My Sunshine”, and is followed by our heart placing ceremony. This involves families and lifestyle staff writing a personalised message on the heart ornament they were given, before placing it on a special white tree that is lit up with an array of lights and baubles.
After the completion of the service, a delicious afternoon tea is put on by our kitchen staff, as residents and guests are given the chance to mingle and share memories of those who have passed.
It is always a special day for our community.
