Balmoral Grove residents travel around the world in 5 days

All aboard the SS Balmoral!

The residents from our Balmoral Grove aged care home (Grovedale, VIC) were recently transported around the world as the fantasy cruise ship, the SS Balmoral, set sail on her maiden voyage.

Each resident received their necessary boarding pass and itinerary and began to imagine where they may be heading on this magical tour!

Cruise Day One: departure from Victoria

As the residents prepared to ‘leave’ Victoria for the first stop of their round the world journey, they enjoyed a taste of home with some Australian-themed canapes and cocktails…

Cruise Day Two: China

The residents spent day two enjoying the sights, smells, and tastes of China. Balmoral’s kitchen staff had gone the extra mile and cooked up some delicious Chinese snacks, which residents enjoyed tucking into whilst wearing oriental hats.

Cruise Day Three: Hawaii

On Day Three, our staff and residents braved the high seas and disembarked in the second destination of their international cruise; Hawaii!

There, our voyagers were greeted by Hula dancers, who performed a traditional Hawaiian dance to entertain their guest. After the performance, everyone was decorated with flower leis and enjoyed some Hawaiian finger food.

Cruise Day Four: South America

The crew faced a shorter journey to their third destination in South America. On arriving in Rio, the guests dressed up in true carnival glamour, with feather boas and sequins in abundance and were greeted by some Amazonian animals!

Cruise Day Four: Greece

The final destination on the SS Balmoral’s maiden voyage was to the beautiful Greek Islands, where residents enjoyed a delicious spread of Mediterranean tapas and other delights.

A huge thank you to all the staff who displayed such creativity, and who went to such great lengths to make this wonderful event happen.
