Sharing the Love this Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples, everybody can celebrate! With Valentine’s arriving just once a year, it proved the perfect holiday to spread the love around our many Japara residential aged care facilities.

Love is in the air at Japara

There was no better day than February 14th to show our appreciation for all our volunteers, staff and residents. You could feel the love emanating from the room as pink hearts, red roses and delicious sweets lined the tables. Residents gathered around the stunning morning teas with smiles on their faces ready for a day of enjoyment.

Backed goods and activities galore

The nursing home was soon buzzing with adoration, as residents, staff and loved ones filled the common areas. Sweet themed treats were in abundance across many of our aged care facilities. Chocolate was the centre of attention at our Japara South West Rocks Nursing Home in Coastal NSW with staff members baking two love heart shaped cakes topped with colourful lollies, whilst the spread at Japara Homestead at Walkley Heights in Adelaide and Japara Vonlea Manor Nursing Home in Geelong had residents and their families in awe over the variety of scones, cookies and cupcakes on offer!

We understand the importance of catering to the specific needs of all residents, so at Japara, we have developed the Food Safety Program (FSP) to ensure that food standards remain high across the board. We planned every detail for the Valentine’s morning tea to ensure a happy and healthy environment for all involved.

Our residents were also given the opportunity to let their creative side shine with arts & crafts activities. At the morning tea at Yarra West Nursing Home in Melbourne, residents created personalised Valentine’s Day cards using a variety of craft supplies. Creating unique cards to gift to family and friends was an incredible way for our residents to bond in a meaningful way.

Staying social with Japara

Here at Japara Healthcare, we understand the importance of bringing people together. That’s why we offer a wide array of lifestyle programs including resident inspired activities. From a Valentines morning tea to dancing, or a poker inspired evening, the residents heavily guide the type of activities arranged at our aged care facilities. We pride ourselves on offering a full social calendar that allows residents to mix and mingle, building friendships that last!
