Understanding Dementia | Information Session

Learn more about how to care for someone with dementia at our ‘Understanding Dementia’ information session at Japara Narracan Gardens, our aged care home in Newborough.

This session, presented by Dementia Australia, provides an introduction to dementia including an overview of different types of and stages, diagnosis, planning ahead, and how to care for someone with dementia.

What will I learn?

By attending our Understanding Dementia session, you will gain valuable knowledge in:

  • Types of dementia: An overview of the different types of dementia diagnosis and the signs and symptoms to look out for
  • Living with dementia: Gain an understanding of what it’s like to live with dementia
  • How to care for someone living with dementia: How to best support your loved ones live life as usual
  • Dementia support services: Advice on the services that are available and how to access them

Who can attend?

This session is suitable for:

People living with dementia, their family carers, family members and people who want to learn more about dementia. This program is not suitable for professionals employed in the health or aged care sectors.
