Winter Fun at Japara Mitcham Residential Care

The hard work of one resident has not gone unnoticed, whilst a men’s BBQ has helped create new friendships at our Japara Mitcham Residential Care, a modern aged care facility in southern Adelaide proudly owned by Japara Healthcare.

Resident Patricia Andrews has turned a hobby of hers into something much more creative. A keen knitter, Patricia has spent the past couple of months knitting, painting and creating nursery rhyme displays. These displays have been turned into a game, whereby our aged care residents guess what each nursery rhyme is. This effort was completed entirely on her own, with Patricia hand crafting every single part of the display. The end result was quite impressive indeed, and the game a most enjoyable one for all the residents involved.

Recently, there have been a number of new admissions to our Mitcham aged care facility, with many of these new residents being men. To help these new residents settle in, lifestyle staff at Japara Mitcham decided to host a men’s only BBQ. The men old timers and newcomers alike were able to cook Lamb Chops, drink beers and form friendships in a familiar environment. Going by the feedback received following this day, all in attendance considered the BBQ to be a flaming success!

Special thanks to our wonderful Lifestyle team at Japara Mitcham for organising these events, and encouraging residents like Patricia to follow their passions!
